Why is there a question about a Constitutional Amendment on your ballot this November 3rd?
This fall, Minnesota voters will consider a constitutional amendment related to the Minnesota Permanent School Fund.
This is about a $2.3 billion trust fund that has supported public schools since 1858.
Simply put, the amendment increases funds distributed to Minnesota schools by using resources from the Permanent School Fund.
This proposal:
- Provides additional support for students and schools.
- Uses existing funds that are already designated for education.
- DOES NOT create new state taxes.
- DOES NOT increase local taxes.
Important! In Minnesota, constitutional amendments require approval by a majority of all voters who cast a ballot. So, if you don’t vote on the amendment, it’s counted as a “No.” vote.
